The venue is perfect for functions and conferences with an air of style and elegance. As one of the most spectacular venues in central Victoria, overlooking the beautiful Civic Gardens, featuring a minstrel’s gallery high above the guests, you can be assured that your event will be the most talked about event of the year. The Capital located in the Arts precinct of historic View Street was originally built as the Sandhurst Masonic Hall in 1873 and boasts towering Corinthian columns and an interior that has been restored to its original grandeur. The Capital offers an impressive 480 seat auditorium and foyer space as well as the lower level Banquet Room and the Bendigo Bank Theatre which are equally as stylish. The Capital’s Banquet Room is an elegant space on the ground floor ideal for larger group dinners, meetings, wedding receptions, awards nights, presentations or trade-show displays.
The Bendigo Bank Theatre is a unique space which was the original 1873 lodge room of the Freemasons and one of the most significant heritage spaces in Bendigo. These heritage spaces with their ornate plasterwork, decorative stained glass and magnificent ceilings are all equipped with the latest audio visual equipment to facilitate any presentation. They each lead onto graceful foyer spaces serviced by kitchen and bar facilities with easy onsite catering options.
Why not include or combine your function with the historic Engine Room, a quirky black- box space with 120 tiered seats and separate workshop room for 50 OR Dudley House, for a unique private dinner option - both located right next to The Capital.

The venue offers an auditorium capacity of 950, break-out rooms including expansive foyers perfect for a sit-down dinner, adjoining studios and modern meeting rooms.
Externally the three historic courtyards are landscaped and provide endless options and enhancements for a range of events.
