4 Popular Tea Break Stops In Melbourne

Melbourne is fast becoming as obsessed with tea leaves as it is with coffee beans. New specialist tea houses and providores are opening their doors around the city, serving high-quality and carefully sourced teas in charming environments.

Storm in a Teacup is located just around the corner on Smith Street and serves more than 35 artisan teas, sourced from around the world. The 30-seater café offers a selection of tea cocktails, brunch, bar snacks and house made cakes. It also features a natural and organic wine list.

 

Travelling Samovar Tea House, in the city fringe suburb of Carlton focuses on serving teas using methods suited to their style and origin. The tea house offers a simple menu of home-style fare and doubles as a retailer so tea lovers can relive the experience at home.

Hopetoun Tea Rooms, located in the historic Block Arcade in Melbourne’s city centre was originally the tea room for the Victorian Ladies Work Association. Named after its founder, Lady Hopetoun, the tea rooms offer an old world, high tea experience, in a traditional heritage setting.

Vue De Monde offers a tea degustation for weekday lunches. Five courses of fine French-leaning food are creatively matched with a variety of teas by the restaurant’s tea sommelier.
