Taronga Centre Celebrates Vivid Sydney With Illuminated Dining Experience

Taronga Centre is creating a truly unique and vivid dining experience at one of its most picturesque venues, The View Restaurant, as part of Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo’s immersive light installation, “Lights for the Wild”. For the first time ever, corporate and private groups as well as the general public will be able to book a ‘Vivid Dinner’ at The View from Friday 26 May to Saturday 17 June.

With breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour and city a glow with the Vivid lights, The View Restaurant will be open to the public for dinner Thursday to Sunday upon purchase of tickets to Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo’s magnificent trail of giant animal light sculptures.

Embracing the wild surrounds of its location and inspired by Taronga Zoo’s commitment to wildlife conservation, The View Restaurant will capture the beauty of ocean life as guests dine under an exquisite projection of the underwater world. The evening will be accompanied by the soothing marine tunes, and stunning aquatic-inspired lighting and centerpieces will further enhance the feeling of being under the sea. The restaurant also has front row seats to the Zoo’s largest new light installation, the Port Jackson shark, as well as the brand new floating stingray.

A special two-course menu will be offered for public bookings, including delectable items such as a rich sirloin steak or a crispy tempura cod. Coconut and lime panna cotta or a trio of flavorful sorbet will be some of the options available as the perfect treats after the main course.

Corporate and private events up to 70 guests can be booked at The View Restaurant from Monday to Wednesday, with a choice of a three-course menu or two courses with a delectable dessert experience station. A contemporary and inspired two-course menu, created by Taronga Centre Head Chef Craig Milnes to replicate some of the most vivid colours seen on the Taronga trail, will feature delicacies such as: cured Hiramasa kingfish with finger lime and wasabi; pressed pork belly with dauphinoise potato, samphire and pink apple gel; and raspberry lamington with coconut ice and raspberry sorbet.

Event packages start from $133 per person, including entry to Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo, with a portion of proceeds going towards supporting wildlife conservation worldwide through Taronga Conservation Society Australia.

“With stunning harbour views and glimpses of wildlife, dining at Taronga Centre is always a unique experience, but add a magnificent cast of illuminated animal sculptures to the mix and you’ve got something truly remarkable. We are excited to be complementing Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo with a creative and world-class food experience,” says Taronga Centre General Manager Patrick Maher.

Taronga Centre and The View Restaurant are located at Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Road, Mosman. For bookings or inquiries please contact the talented events team on 02 9978 2400.
